Called to Serve

The latest news in your our lives... We were just called as two-year service missionaries into the Tucson Spanish branch. Today was our first official day and we loved it. No, I do not speak a drop of Spanish and yes, they only speak in Spanish, obviously. But, the wonderful thing about the church is that the Spirit is there despite the language barrier. These sweet memebers were thrilled to welcome us into their branch greeting us with lots and lots of hugs and promises of amazing carne asada and dancing. It will be a challenge, no doubt, but we are definitely there for a reason and excited for another new adventure.

You know, I realized we have quite a trend going on. Everytime we finally start to feel comfortable in our situations something new is thrown at us. First the move to Tucson, then a new, crazy job for me and BUSY medical school for Joey, now the Spanish branch. I'm grateful someone sees the potential in me because I could not feel more inadequate majority of the time.

Newest goal of 2012: Learn Spanish. Wish me luck!

  1. WOW Raegan!! That is so exciting, I really need to learn Spanish ("su cita es manana a las dos y media" is the extent of my knowledge ;) Sorry I didn't even get to hear this news when we chatted the other day! Too busy talking about myself I guess oops.. You will do great in this calling I just know it!

  2. Oh my gosh! That is a way cool calling. Seems like I'll see you at church as much as I did when you were in Primary! :) Good luck, lady!

  3. Oh my gosh Raeg!! This is super exciting!! Do I remember Joey or you mentioning how funny it would be if you guys got moved to the Spanish ward while we were down there?! Now it's reality!! Cj is going to be pumped... He'd drive anywhere for some good carne asada!! So happy for you and Joey!

  4. That is so fun my aunt is doing that right now and she loves it!
